About
Let me start by introducing myself.
My name is Christian Schmidt and I’m a 36 year old Swede currently residing in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. On this site I will showcase some of my artwork that I’ve done for certain projects and for my own personal amusement. I'm mostly self-taught but have completed a one year course in 3D animation, modelling and 2D texturing.
My techniques vary and I like to try different methods of creating images, sculptures and videos. I like to blend images from different sources such as photos, 3D rendered images, 2D images and hand drawn pictures as well as sculptures. I mostly rely on 2D software with the other techniques functioning as secondary or assisting methods in creating the final image. I don’t follow any specific rules, at least not when I’m just creating for fun. I let the image take me where it wants to go and I don’t hold back when I get a crazy idea to see if it works out.
Apart from creating images and animations I also enjoy music and sound. I have created some music but I wouldn’t go so far as to claiming to be a musician in any stretch of the imagination. I do have enough confidence however to create simple atmospheric background music where the music is not the focus of the project. Sound creation and manipulation is something I really enjoy on the other hand and it comes in handy when creating and editing a video where sound effects play a significant role, or in computer games. I have experimented in a game-engine called “Unity”, whereby many of my skills came in handy in one huge project that ultimately was doomed to fail, mainly because I lack any programming skills of any description, and that the project was way too large for one person to pull off regardless. It did however reward me by the experience in of itself.
Many of the older pictures are clearly intended for the game market, with low poly models that would have been suitable for the game market in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. Some images are made for internet sites while others are of a varied nature including political or even adult themes.
I’m open to the possibility of employment should any company feel that my skills would be a valuable asset to them, either through fulltime employment or on a project basis.
I hope you enjoy your stay.
Chris
